My stay in Ireland

On April 23, 2012 we started our travel by bus at the Klostergasse in Leibnitz. We met at 4:45 there, so we were all very tired, but later in the bus on the way to Bratislava it was of course impossible to sleep. After we arrived after three hours in Bratislava we checked in, most of our suitcases fortunately weren’t too heavy and then we took the plane to Dublin. In Dublin we went by bus to the St. Anne’s Park were we met our host families the first time. Our first night was probably the one with the most sleep, because we were all so tired after the travel.

The next day we took the bus to our meeting point, Tara Station. As you can imagine it took a couple of minutes till everybody arrived. We walked to our school, where we were split up in two groups and we met our teacher for the next week. He was a funny but a little bit strange Irish guy. After school we always had dinner somewhere, I discovered a little Chinese restaurant after few days and I was there many times. Most of the time we had an evening’s program like a Liffey boat cruise or the visit of the Jameson distillery. But after some days we felt like we were living in Dublin since years, because we knew every store and restaurant in the city. So after I saw everything important in Dublin I preferred to relax in a nice coffee shop. At night we were out to explore what the Irish do after work and my answer is: drinking a Guinness. In the second part of our stay we went to the North of Ireland. We were surprised how long the bus travel took up the island.

As we arrived in Belfast we went by bus trough the city and our guide told us many interesting things about the history, but most of them were terrifying. After a short stay in Belfast the bus travel took another one and a half hour to the place where our hostel was. But this was one of the highlights of our stay there. A big white house at the beach and we were the only one who stayed there.  I made a nice run with some friends at the beach right at sunset. At night we went sleeping very late, because we cooked together, sang songs and just had fun. Unfortunately we were in this hostel just for one day.

At the next morning we went by bus back to the South. On the way we visited some sights, like the Giants Causeway or a rope bridge. Back in Dublin we had our last night together in Ireland. In the hostel there were just rooms for 12 of ours each, but for one night it wasn’t a real problem.  In the evening I was with my friends at a nice Italian restaurant, where we had a delicious dinner. All in all it was a great last night but to stand up at 4:00 pm in the morning was problem for some of us. After breakfast, another awful coffee, we went by bus to the airport, took the plane to Bratislava also by bus back to Leibnitz. We were all really glad as we arrived home, because that were two exhausting weeks.
