New York City is situated on the east cost of the United States on the Atlantic Ocean.

The Dutch founded it in 1626. They bought the Island Manhattan from the Native Americans and founded a Colony with the name New Amsterdam. In 1646, the English took over the Colony and gave it a new name: New York. Most immigrants from Europe arrived here.

So there are many bridges and tunnels to connect the parts of New York. 14% of the city are parks, woods or gardens. The biggest park is Central Park. with a zoo and a lake. In summer the park is full of joggers, in winter you can go ice-skating.

So you can say it is a very green city.

2.Describe a photo

The picture shows the ice rink in Central Park in New York.

The picture was taken on a winter day.

Everything is full of snow . The sun isn’t shining and the sky is grey. But it isn’t snowing. In the foreground you can see a lot of people. The people are ice-skating. Some of them are children Others are old people. They all wear warm closes in dark colors because it is winter and very cold. On the left side of the picture you can see a pick-up. It is the only car in the picture.

In the background of the picture there are trees and bushes.

That shows that the scene is in a park. Behind the trees and bushes you can see skyscrapers because Central Park is in the middle of New York. But you can think that you are far away from the city.

3.A great day in new York

When I woke up on my last day in New York, I was happy to see that the sun was shining and it was warm, but not too hot. that was good because we had a big plan: My family and I wanted to visit Chinatown on the Lower East Side.

We lived in a Hotel between Chinatown and Little Italy. It was very big and the food was delicious. But today my family and I wanted to see what was so special about Chinatown. First, it`s a neighborhood in Manhattan and about 100.000 Chinese live there. So it is the biggest Chinese community in North America. At the Mahayana Buddhist Temple we looked at the great Golden Buddha.

It is more than 16 feet high! And in all the shops and markets we could find everything that reminds you of China, so you needn’t travel there. Hundreds of restaurants invited us. The smell was delicious. And we had the best Chinese meal ever! I couldn’t believe we were in the middle of New York!A map of Chinatown

Later that day we went to the Central Park Zoo.

The Central Park Zoo is located in the southeast corner of the park, just off Fifth Avenue. It is only a small zoo that is open 365 days a year. It was founded in 1870. But you can enjoy more than 130 different species of animal. I saw penguins and lions and a lot of other animals.

From there we went to the Empire State Building on Fifth Avenue.

This is a fantastic building. It was built in 1930-1931 and is 381 meters high. Till 1972 it was the highest skyscraper in the world. From the platform on the 102nd floor I had a great view of New York City.

I saw the other skyscrapers and a lot of yellow cabs on the streets.

Many people dream of living in New York because there are interesting museums for example the MoMA and the Guggenheim Museum.

You can also see famous sights like the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building. This is only one of the many skyscrapers. In the international neighborhoods you can see people from all over the world. New York is famous for cool music. On the Broadway there are many Musicals theaters where you can see Cats or Starlight Express. I would like to see all this as a tourist.

But I would never live there.

Because I afraid of Terrorist attacks like 9/11 or rampages at schools. New York is also too far away from home and you can’t see friends and family often. And the tickets are very expansive. You most speak English all the time and this is very difficult.

All in all I can say that New York is a cool city but not for living for me.
